Day 1 - Sunday 30th August

Make your own way to Canberra. You can book in anytime from 3pm and the team will meet in the foyer at 5pm where we will head out for a drink and team dinner.

Day 2 - Monday 31st August

Today we leave early and make our way to Jindabyne via Cooma, where we’ll have morning tea, pick up our Snowshoeing gear, then head straight to our accommodation for a lite lunch, don on our snowshoeing gear and head off for our first afternoon of fun in the snow. The Cascades trail is a remote path that twists through snow gum woodland, along the Thredbo River and the beauty of Pilot Wilderness Area. A nice way to get to know our Snowshoes. Then back to our accommodation to settle in front of a warm fire, nibbles and drinks and maybe even a sauna or spa.

Day 3 - Tuesday 1st September

Today is the day most people are waiting for. It's time to head to the highest point in Australia – the summit of MT KOSCIUSZKO

Unmissable in winter! What is not to love about being surrounded by winter white in every direction? Snowshoe the "direct route" from the top of the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift towards the top of Australia. Summit and see the amazing 360 degrees views towards the Victorian High Country and to the north, Mt Jagungal. An amazing, exhilarating "top shelf" experience. Back to base via the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift with the chance to grab some schnapps or hot chocolate at Eagle's Nest before heading back for fireside snacks and a glass of wine. A day you will never ever forget!

Day 4 - Wednesday 2nd September

Charlotte Pass to Guthega

Fuelled up after breakfast, we’ll pack our lunches, snacks, and thermos at the chalet, ready for a big day in the mountains. With our starting point not accessible by road, we’ll jump aboard the over-snow transport from Perisher to Charlotte Pass—an adventure in itself—before lacing up for today’s epic trek.

Our journey from Charlotte Pass to Guthega is a 9km end-to-end snowshoe, showcasing some of the most breathtaking alpine scenery in Australia. Think vast snowfields, the mighty Snowy River, and the thrill of crossing the suspension bridge at Spencers Creek. Every turn delivers another postcard moment.

After an unforgettable day on the trail, we’ll head back to Pender Lea where the sauna, open fire, and plenty of laughs are waiting to help us unwind.

Day 5 - Thursday 3rd September

Dead Horse Gap & Wild Brumby

Today’s adventure takes us from Dead Horse Gap up into the Rams Head Range on an 8km return snowshoe. The trail climbs steadily through the snow gum forest before breaking out above the tree line, where we’ll be treated to wide-open alpine views and the thrill of standing on the South Rams Head, 470m above our starting point. With every step, the scenery just gets better—this is alpine Australia at its best.

After soaking it all in, we’ll descend and make our way to the iconic Wild Brumby Distillery, where a schnapps tasting (or a warm drink) and some nibbles are the perfect way to celebrate the day. Then it’s back to the chalet for a hearty dinner and another night of good food, laughs, and stories shared around the table.

Day 6 - Friday 4th September

Our final day begins at the Perisher Ski Tube Terminal, where we set out on the Porcupine Rocks Walk. This stunning trail winds through the snow gum forest before climbing towards the rocky outcrops of Porcupine Rocks, where we’re rewarded with sweeping alpine views across Thredbo Valley and Jindabyne—a breathtaking finale to our snowshoeing adventure.

On the way back down the mountain, we’ll pause at the Thredbo River Picnic Area for a well-earned lunch and one last photo stop at the iconic Kosciuszko National Park sign—the perfect spot to capture the spirit of our journey. Then it’s back to Canberra, hearts full and packs brimming with unforgettable memories, stories, and friendships to last a lifetime.

A Note on Alpine Conditions and the Itinerary:

Alpine weather can be extremely changeable, and so too can our itinerary! That’s all part of the adventure. We have a range of incredible day snowshoeing options ready to go (other than the above), and we’ll choose the best experience each day depending on the conditions. If the weather limits our time on the snowshoes for a day or two, don’t worry—we also have some fun alternative adventures planned to make sure every day is memorable. The above itinerary is subject to change leading up to and during the trip. We cannot guarantee snow cover. Changes will be made if needed, depending on the weather, to ensure a safe and enjoyable adventure.

We like to say 'Small Group, BIG Adventure!'

The environmental impact is concern number one, so we keep our groups small to minimise our footprint in the great outdoors. On average, there will be a maximum of 10 Women (plus a WEA leader Snowshoe Guide) to ensure everyone is safe, has a great time and is looked after throughout the adventure.

I'm coming on my own, is that ok? No problem, lots of women come on their own; we welcome solo travellers and guarantee a supportive group of fun-loving women to share your journey. You might just find some new adventure friends by the end of the adventure.

You'll need a moderate to high fitness level to fully enjoy snowshoeing. Our adventures focus on the journey, not the destination. We stop for photos, take our time to hear about the flora and fauna of the Snowy Alpine Region from our guide, and stop for regular breaks, lunch, morning tea, etc.

Prior training, just like you would for a multi-day hike, will make the experience all the more enjoyable.

We’ll send you a full packing list well before the trip so you’ve got plenty of time to get organised.

The good news? You don’t need to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe just for snowshoeing. In most cases, the clothing and wet-weather gear you already use for hiking will work perfectly.

Here are the essentials:

• Layers, layers, layers! Dressing in layers is the key. It keeps you warm when you need it and lets you strip down if you start to overheat (yes, you’ll be surprised how hot you get even though you’re on the snow!).

• Base layers – Thermal tops and bottoms (merino wool or synthetic are best).

• Mid layers – A long sleeve fleece or similar

• FOC layer – Your “F** Off Cold”* layer… a warm puffy jacket for when it’s absolutely freezing.

• Outer layers – Waterproof jacket and pants to keep the snow out.

• Accessories – Gloves, beanie, neck buff, and sunglasses/goggles.

• Footwear – Waterproof hiking boots work well. Snowshoeing boots are also an option and are included in your package.
  

Fabric matters:

• Great choices → Merino wool or synthetic fabrics (they dry quickly, breathe well, and keep you warm even when damp).

• Avoid → Cotton and bamboo (they hold onto moisture, stay wet, and make you cold).

In short: bring the gear you already love for hiking, add a couple of thermal layers (and your trusty FOC layer), and you’ll be set for an epic alpine adventure.

What do I need to bring?

We'll send you a detailed packing list when you book but here's and quick list, layering is the key to comfort!

-Hiking type clothes: 2 pants, 2 long sleeve tops, 2 shirts (wool & synthetics are best, cotton is not)

-Comfortable Waterproof Hike Boots (Or wear the boots provided in your package)

-Wet Weather Jacket/Pants

-Thermal Underwear for a base layer, Fleece or similar for a mid-layer

-Beanie, gloves, scarf

-Wool socks

-Comfortable Loungewear for the Chalet-think track dacks, jumper, uggs, PJs

-Travel clothes-that double as a going-out outfit (casual)

-Personal medications, toiletries

-Swimmers (for that spa/hot tub!)

(we'll have a drying room and full laundry at our chalet so you'll be able to wash/dry as needed)

I know the snow can be bright; what do I wear to protect my eyes?

If you have been to the snow before you would know how bright the sun can be on a sunny day as it reflects off the snow. Make sure you have a decent pair of sunglasses. Covering your eyes is also important to keep snow and rain out of your eyes. A leash for your sunnies is a great idea, too.

What specialised equipment do I need for Snowshoeing?

Don't worry, we've got this covered and it is all included in your package. At Cooma, we’ll be fitted for our equipment and pick up everything we need (snowshoes, poles, boots)
