CULTURE

It is an action-packed adventure! The following itinerary and paddling distances should be seen as an approximate guide only. Please note that weather conditions may cause changes to our itinerary.
27th June - Arrive Nadi:
If you are arriving by an international flight today, the hotel will provide a free airport-to-hotel transfer. Settle into your room, and then we will head out for our welcome dinner to meet the rest of the team.
The trip briefing with our guide is at 8 pm at the hotel, so arrange your flights to arrive on time for this important meeting.
Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Twin Share, Nadi Hotel
28th June - Boat Transfer to Tavewa:
After an early breakfast at the hotel, the group will transfer to Denarau marina for the 8.45 a.m. boat to the islands. The Yasawa Flyer, the boat servicing the island chain, is a 267-passenger catamaran. We'll transfer to our base on Tavewa Island by small island boat. The combination of reefs, close island groupings, and shallow waters creates the stunning aqua colours for which this area is famous. Our base camp has a dining bure (hut) and grassy campsites to pitch a tent.
After customising the kayaks and getting acquainted with the expedition gear, we'll have an instructional paddling session before a short excursion in the lagoon. Watching the sunset from the beach, followed by a delicious tropical dinner, is a great way to end the first day in the islands. Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Accommodation: Island Camping in tents
29th June - Camping and Kayak:
After breakfast, we’ll pack snorkelling gear and a picnic lunch and head off to circumnavigate nearby Matacawalevu Island. We seek out the best coral reefs, explore peaceful mangroves, a delightful maze of sandbars and time permitting have a snorkel at the Blue Lagoon. The paddling distance today is approximately 14 km. Tonight, another delicious dinner at our Tavewa Island base.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Accommodation: Island Camping in tents
Paddle Distance: approx 15k
30th June - Camping and Kayak:
Load the expedition craft and paddle between 15 and 20kms to Navotua village. With favourable tides we'll have lunch where fringing reefs run directly off the beach. After rounding the point of Nacula Island, we head for Navotua. The villagers of Navotua are particularly friendly and the special warmth and reception we receive has made it our favourite spot. If the winds are too strong, we only paddle what is comfortable and then transfer to an accompanying boat to cover the remaining distance. We pitch our tents on a grassy campsite and experience island-village life.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Accommodation: Island Camping in tents
Paddle Distance: approx 15kms (could be up to 20kms)
1st July - Camp and Kayak:
Today's return paddle is 6-8 km to Sawa-I-Lau, a scenic island with sharp limestone peaks and salt-water caves that make for fascinating exploration. We round out the day with an afternoon visiting the local school followed by entertainment provided by the village and an invitation to join the chief for a social kava party in the evening (kava is a non-alcoholic drink with mild numbing effects). Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Accommodation: Island Camping in tents
Paddle Distance: approx 8k
2nd July - Camp and Kayak:
On our last kayaking day, we’ll explore the many inlets and bays of Nacula en route to our base on Tavewa Island. Time permitting, we can snorkel off the back of the island before relaxing around camp and enjoying our last island dinner together with our Local Kayak guides
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Accommodation: Island Camping in tents
Paddle Distance: approx 15k
3rd July - Boat Transfer and Barefoot Manta
We spend a relaxing morning on Tavewa Island, snorkelling, hiking, relaxing - what ever takes your fancy before departing on the Yasawa Flyer to the Barefoot Manta Island Resort where we will be welcomed to our new home for the next 3 nights.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Accommodation: Twin Share Bure - Barefoot Manta
4th July - Barefoot Manta
Optional Extras: Swim with the Manta Rays / Coral Planting / Guided Snorkel
Barefoot Manta Island Resort Fiji's location is unique, only a 1-minute boat ride from a Manta Ray feeding site. From April - October Fiji Manta Rays feed in a narrow nutrient-rich channel of water between Drawaqua Island (Barefoot Manta Island Resort Fiji's location) and Naviti Island. With nature, there are no guarantees, but the Manta Rays are usually feeding there every day during the season. This is your time, you choose how you would like to spend your days here; A manta swim, join the local Marine Biologist for a talk about the local marine life, help plant coral, snorkel or just relax in a hammock with a cocktail. It really is a special place to unwind after our time kayaking.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Accommodation: Twin Share Bure - Barefoot Manta
5th July - Barefoot Manta
Optional Extras: Swim with the Manta Rays / Coral Planting / Guided Snorkel
Interested in marine biology? Book in for a session with the resident marine biologist to spend some time in the Marine Conservation Centre, where you'll be briefed on all things coral and any other projects they are working on. Then maybe join the marine biologists on the reef, see the projects first-hand and, where possible, actually participate in conservation activities. In the afternoon, play some beach volleyball, relax with a book in the hammock, take a walk around the island or head out to one of the beautiful beaches for a snorkel.
Meals: Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Accommodation: Twin Share Bure - Barefoot Manta
6th July - Relax and Boat Transfer to Nadi:
Spend the morning around the resort - maybe a sunrise hike, one last Manta swim or snorkel. We board the Yasawa Flyer after lunch and arrive back at N=Denarau Marina in Nadi at approx 6:00pm. A quick transfer to our hotel, check into our rooms, followed by a relaxed pizza party and a drink as our final team dinner to celebrate our amazing adventure.

The Country and its People
The many islands of Fiji are spread around the reef-strewn Koro Sea in the southwest Pacific Ocean. About 100 of over 300 islands are inhabited and range from large mountainous wooded landmasses to small coral cays. Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu, covers 10,388 square kilometres, has 80% of the population and its highest peak, Mt. Victoria, is 1323 metres. The Yasawas are a chain of 16 volcanic islands with summits ranging from 229 to 579 metres. Fiji has three official languages—Fijian, Hindi and English—but there are some 300 communalects (variations) in the Fijian language. English is widespread and most young people speak English. Although some of the older generation may have difficulties speaking, most understand English.
Climate
From May to November, Fiji experiences a mild tropical climate. The weather is generally drier in the Yasawas compared to the main island of Viti Levu. Nights may be cool, perhaps 16–20º C. The days are generally hot and dry, with temperatures ranging from 24-30º C. There may be some spells of cloudy weather and showers.
Time & Communication
Nadi is two hours ahead of Australian Eastern standard time. Mobile coverage (by Vodaphone and Digicell) is sometimes patchy in the islands. Optus and Telstra have service in some places and offer international day passes. Fiji day passes are around $5 - $10 per day - check with your service provider if this is accessible to you and how to activate your data roaming.
Cultural Considerations
it is very important to behave in a respectful way towards both the people and their land. While the islanders will never rebuke you for unknowingly offending them, it is desirable to try to respect as many of their customs and beliefs as you can. For example, it is disrespectful for women to wear bathing suits in a village and a 'sulu' or a sarong should be carried by both men and women while kayaking (sulus can be bought in Fiji costing between FJ$15–25). While in a village it is disrespectful to wear hats, sit on doorways or stand up during a 'sevu sevu’ ceremony. Shoes should be removed when entering a Fijian hut. Swearing is frowned upon. Simple courtesy and a bit of sensitivity will satisfy most of the customs of village life. Some basic practices you should observe are: • Ask the locals if they mind being photographed. • Restrict wearing bathing suits to beaches when in villages • In villages use a sulu with a shirt or long pants in the evenings (shorts are acceptable during the day).
Gifts
Fijians are very friendly and often offer their own limited food to strangers. We will be self-contained and provide all our own food and camping equipment so as to minimise our impact on the villages. If you bring any gifts, we would prefer to make a presentation of them from the group to the village chief or community rather than to individuals. This helps to reduce jealousy and expectations. We do pay when we stay in a village, and that money goes to the community in an equitable fashion for things like building supplies for cyclone-damaged houses. If you would like to provide something personally, consider making a donation to the Navotua School and community fund we established in 1988. Southern Sea Ventures manages the fund in conjunction with the village chief and the school secretary. The purpose of the fund is to assist with community projects, such as installing solar panels or compost toilets and for the education of the village children. The Navotua Infant Primary School opened in October 2013 and has been generously stocked with school supplies donated by our trip participants. A donation to the village fund may be something you may wish to consider after you have completed a trip.
Conservation
It has always been our motto that “we take only photographs and leave only footprints.” We are keenly aware of the ecology of the areas we visit and try to limit our impact on them. We ask that each person take out everything they bring in, including sweet wrappers, batteries, etc. We have installed a composting toilet in the village to dispose of the group’s human waste.
Money to Bring With You
$200 in Fijian cash will be more than enough to bring during the kayaking and island stay, and it is unlikely you will be able to spend that. There are ATM machines at the airport, at our hotel and in the main centres, and there is a 24-hour bank at the airport. This is the most efficient way to obtain Fijian dollars. Credit cards are accepted in larger stores or hotels, but don’t rely on being able to use one everywhere. Currency The unit of currency is the Fijian dollar.
At the Barefoot Manta all your pruchases (Extra activities such as Manta swims, drinks etc will be charged to your room and paid by card before leaving)
Tipping
Tipping may be expected by the local people for services such as baggage handling, taxis or in restaurants. Our guides do not expect tips.
Vaccinations
There are no other statutory vaccinations at the time of writing. However, you should check with your doctor or medical centre for current information.
Mosquito Borne-Diseases
Fiji has no incidence of malaria; however, in urban areas, dengue fever has been recorded. The outer Yasawas are in a rain shadow and as a result there is a low risk of contracting mosquito-borne diseases while kayaking in the islands.
Will I be able to Sea Kayak? In short yes. Sea kayaking is an activity that any reasonably fit person can participate in and could be compared to brisk walking or cycling. WEA require some previous kayaking experience to attend this trip. The degree of difficulty of the trip will depend on the weather we encounter. The sea and weather conditions in the outer islands are predominantly stable, but in windier conditions, we may require a full day of paddling. An "average" paddling day will range from 3–4 hours and we mix in as much snorkelling and exploration walking as possible. We ask that all participants feel confident in swimming and being in the open ocean.
The kayaks are stable, easy to paddle and control, ideally suited for this remote trip. They are very forgiving and are suited for beginners to experts. The kayaks are designed as an expedition boat and it is important to keep personal gear to a minimum as we carry all of our food and equipment on board with us.
Our trip leaders are highly experienced sea kayakers and professional wilderness guides. On day two of the trip, we will be given a thorough briefing on all aspects of sea kayaking techniques with ample time to practice and familiarise ourselves with the kayaks.
In general, the fitter you are, the more you will enjoy the paddling. It’s a good idea to begin some regular exercise like walking, jogging, cycling or swimming (and kayaking where possible) well before the trip. If you have not paddled a sit in kayak, we highly recommend some tuition before your trip. Check out WEA website for upcoming kayaking days.
How fit do I need to be?
A moderate to high level of fitness is needed. Most days on our adventure, we will be kayaking and snorkelling, although leisurely and at your own pace, mother nature may have other plans and we could paddle against winds and in an ocean swell - remember it is sea kayaking. We recommend you have a moderate to high level of fitness to make the most of your time on the reef. If in doubt, check with your GP and drop us an email. We're happy to give you a call and answer any questions you have.
How many women will be in our group?
There will be a maximum of 11 plus your WEA hosts and Kayaking / Guide. This ensures everyone has a great time and gets to know each other.
I am thinking about coming on my own, is this ok?
Not a problem at all! Lots of women come on their own to our adventures. Your Women Embrace Adventure hosts will make sure everyone meets at the welcome dinner. We always have lots of fun, there is no pressure, no judgment, and lots of encouragement from everyone. By the end of our trip, you may have just found some new adventure friends!
Camping?! Can I do that?
Yes, you can! For five nights of our adventure, you will camp in two-man tents in beautiful locations. You will be sleeping on self inflatable mats on the ground (these are supplied) - for extra comfort you can also bring your own small self inflatable mat so you have more cushioning to sleep on.
Don't let the camping aspect stop you from experiencing this trip of a lifetime. Contact us if you would like to discuss further.
What are the toilet and shower facilities like while we’re camping?
At both Tavewa and Navotua Village, we’ll be staying in a remote and beautiful part of Fiji — which means going back to basics when it comes to amenities.
• Toilets: There are well-maintained drop toilets available at both locations. Simple, clean, and perfectly fine for our island-style camping setup.
• Showers: Water is limited, so showers are too. Expect either a basic camp shower or a bucket-style rinse — just enough to wash off the salt after a big day on the water.
Once we arrive at Barefoot Manta, you’ll have access to flushing toilets and showers. Just keep in mind that this is still remote Fiji — the water pressure (and temperature!) can vary, but it’s all part of the island charm.
When should I book airfares?
Please only book airfares after you receive an email from Women Embrace Adventure letting you know it is okay to do so. Airfares are not included in the package price; you will need to book and pay for your own airfare to and from Nadi, Fiji. We will share our flight details with you when it is time to book flights.
Do I Need Travel Insurance?
YES, travel insurance is required and it is essential that you purchase travel insurance at the time of your booking. Credit Card travel insurance may not cover the full costs if you need to be evacuated or can not travel, choose your comprehensive travel insurance wisely.
How much spending money do I need to bring with me?
This largely depends on you. All accommodation, activities outlined on the itinerary, breakfasts, lunch and dinners and some snacks are included on the Adventure. Alcoholic beverages and souvenirs along the way are also at your own cost. So, really, you don’t need much at all.
When does my deposit have to be paid?
The non-refundable $900 deposit needs to be paid upon booking. Places are limited to 11 so we recommend you do this as soon as possible. Once we have received your deposit we will send you a confirmation email. The balance due will be invoiced to you and payable on or before 90 days prior to departure.

That means that we carry everything with us, so it's important to keep personal gear to a minimum.

Trip Organisation
The sun sets quickly in the tropics, so paddling days will start early to take advantage of daylight hours and cooler temperatures. On a paddling day, we'd like to be on the water before 9:00 am and arrive at camp by mid-afternoon. It’s important to realise that the group will kayak at the speed of the slowest members. On arrival in camp, many hands make light work...we will be expected to carry kayaks, unload our own boats and set up tents as needed. Remember, your contribution is vital to the success of our adventure. Yep, there is some work involved, but that's all part of the adventure!
Expedition Team
We will have a highly qualified kayaking guide, a local Fijian Guide, the support boat team and a WEA Host with us on the adventure.
Your WEA host will make sure you are prepared for the adventure beforehand, and if you need anything before or during our adventure, simply ask. The WEA host has done this trip before and is there to make sure you have the most amazing time and ensure your trip is one you will never forget for all the right reasons.
Your kayak guides will be two experienced leaders from Southern Sea Ventures. The guides’ role is to coordinate the expedition and ensure the safety of the group. They'll answer questions and inform you of the objectives and progress of the trip, decide on safety matters, administer the medical kit and liaise with the local villagers on our behalf. We will be very well supported during the trip, all of the expedition team are there to help ensure you have the best time ever!
Travel Insurance
It is necessary to take out a personal insurance policy to cover yourself against injury or illness or otherwise that may prevent you from attending the trip, from sickness or accident during the trip, loss of baggage, trip cancellation, and emergency evacuation by plane or helicopter in the unlikely event of illness or accident. Ensure you have read the policy thoroughly and are familiar with the claim process in case you need to make an emergency claim. We will require proof of your insurance prior to departure.
Accommodation
Our group hotel in Nadi is comfortable and clean. Rooms are based on twin share, although single rooms may be requested for an additional charge. We will stay in two person screened tents while kayaking and twin share beautiful basic beach side bures while at the Barefoot Manta island resort.
Meals On the kayaking trip
The food is freshly prepared by the guides, who are all fantastic wilderness cooks. On longer paddle days, breakfasts consist of cereal, fresh fruit and bread. On more relaxed mornings, the guide will cook a hot breakfast of bacon and eggs or pancakes. Lunches are picnic-style, with a selection of cheese, cold meat, fresh vegetables, fruit, bread and/or salads. Dinners are two to three courses prepared with fresh ingredients and varied daily: pasta, curries, stir fries or Mexican style. We’ll even try to supplement meals with freshly caught fish! We are happy to cater for vegetarians and other special dietary requirements. Some specialist diet food products are not available to buy in Fiji. For example, gluten-free cereal and UHT soy milk are sometimes hard to find. Therefore, we recommend you bring some from home for your personal consumption during the trip. Tap water in the hotel is chlorinated, and we use boiled or sterilised water when kayaking.
Photography
The humidity is always high in Fiji, and as we are paddling in a saltwater environment, the delicate electronics in cameras can be damaged. You might consider a waterproof camera or a small plastic waterproof case or dry-bag with a supply of silicon packs. Ensure you have sufficient memory storage and batteries as there is no opportunity to purchase batteries or access electricity during our island stay. Kat and Sharon will have a water proof camera and GoPro. They'll take lots of photos and videos that we'll share at the end of the trip.
Medical Matters
You will be required to provide us with a medical questionnaire filled out completely and accurately closer to the departure date. You will be isolated from modern medical facilities, so attention to medical matters is vital. Any participants over 70 will need a medical sign off from their GP.
Hygiene
Be conscious of hygiene. Wash your hands regularly, be wary of uncooked food, and wash fruit or, preferably, peel it (with clean hands!).

It is your responsibility and you must advise WEA of any pre-existing medical condition and/or disability that might reasonably be expected to increase the risk of you requiring medical attention while on our tours. WEA or our suppliers may require additional medical assessment by a medical practitioner. WEA reserves the right, at its reasonable discretion, to cancel your booking and refund the money paid by you, less any unrecoverable costs. WEA also reserves the right to cancel your participation in a trip at any time, including after the commencement of your trip, with no right of refund if your medical condition and/or disability could be reasonably expected to affect the normal conduct of the tour and the safety and enjoyment of other participants.
We do not allow travellers under the age of 18 years.
You declare and warrant that:
1. You are in good health and mental and physical fitness at the time of booking this tour;
2. You have disclosed to WEA every matter concerning your health and mental and physical fitness of which you are aware, or ought to reasonably be expected to know, that is relevant to WEA decision to permit you to go on the adventure tour;
3. Immediately upon any adverse change in your health or fitness that may be likely to affect WEA decision to permit you to go on the adventure tour, you will notify WEA in writing of any such adverse change.
4. You have taken the necessary precautions to immunise/vaccinate for the destination you are travelling to.
If you fail to comply with the duty of disclosure in this condition and if WEA would not have permitted you to undertake the tour, or continue participation of the tour, had you made full disclosure under this condition, WEA will not be held liable.
8. Tour leaders
WEA reserves the right to cancel any tour prior to departure. In this condition, ‘tour leader’ includes both the nominated tour leader and any other nominated person given at any time the task of leading or supervising any aspect of the tour.
WEA tour leaders take their responsibilities seriously. If, for any reason, a tour leader believes, in his or her absolute discretion, that you should not participate in the tour before your departure, even if you pass your medical, he/she may exclude you from the tour.
If, for any reason during a tour, the tour leader considers you should not participate further due to you committing an illegal act, or in the opinion of the tour leader, your behaviour is causing or is likely to cause danger, distress or annoyance to others, or your fitness or health is inadequate, he or she may direct you not to continue, and you must follow the nominated tour leader’s instructions. In this case, you will not be entitled to any refund. Travel insurance may compensate you depending on the circumstances.
9. Cancellation by WEA
WEA reserves the right to cancel a departure and will advise you of such cancellations no later than 30 days before the tour departure date, unless cancellation occurs within 30 days of departure, in which case you will be notified as soon as possible.
If due to ‘Force Majeure’ or government travel advice, WEA reserves the right to cancel or postpone a departure at any time. With any form of cancellation, WEA Ltd will do its best to offer you alternative arrangements if available. If the price of your alternative adventure is of lower value than the original booking, we will refund the difference, less any charges, to you.
If you do not accept the alternative arrangements, WEA will grant a refund at its sole discretion. If cancellation is due to ‘Force Majeure’, government travel advice, a pandemic, or a similar event that results in an inability to safely operate the tour, no refunds will be offered.
If you are offered a refund, it will be subject to condition 22 and will be less unrecoverable costs and your $900 non-refundable deposit. WEA will not be liable for any incidental expenses that you may have incurred as a result of your booking being cancelled, including but not limited to visas, vaccinations, travel insurance excess or non-refundable flights.
10. Force majeure
WEA will not be liable for any delay in, change to or cancellation of tours due to ‘Force Majeure’. ‘Force Majeure’ is defined as any circumstance beyond the reasonable control of WEA and includes, but is not limited to, war or threat of war, riot, civil strife, terrorist activity, industrial dispute, disease, industrial or nuclear disaster, adverse weather conditions, fire and strikes. WEA and or its third party reserve the right either before or during the course of the tour to refuse to carry or accommodate any client which it reasonably considers, in the light of the best interests of all participants within the tour group and crew, to be unsuitable by reason of physical or mental condition or unruly behaviour.
11. Cancellation due to small tour numbers
WEA reserves the right to cancel any tour prior to departure in the event that there are too few people booked on a tour in which case you will be given a full refund of the tour price paid by you. You will not be entitled to claim any additional amounts or seek any compensation for any injury, loss, expenses or damage (either direct or consequential) or for any loss of time or inconvenience which may result from such cancellation (including but not limited to visa, passport and vaccination charges, or departure, gear purchases, airport and airline taxes).
12. Itineraries and publications
Itineraries and other details are published in good faith as statements of intention only and reasonable changes in the itinerary and related items may be made where deemed necessary or advisable by WEA . The information contained in WEA brochures, itineraries, and internet site is, to the best of WEA's belief, correct at the date of publishing.
13. Route changes, postponement, cancellation or delay
WEA reserve the right to:
a. Cancel or modify any routes within the tour or objectives set out in the itinerary; or
b. Substitute different or equivalent routes within the tour in place of cancelled or modified routes, or
c. Postpone, cancel or delay (either in relation to the departure or arrival times or the duration of the tour) any such aspect of the tour if, in the absolute discretion of WEA , it is necessary to do so due to inclement weather, snow or icy conditions or conditions that are otherwise likely to be hazardous or dangerous or due to any other adverse or threatening conditions whether political or military or terrorist or otherwise or if, in the absolute discretion of WEA , there is a likelihood of any such event occurring which may impact upon the safety of the participants, or if an act or omission of a third party prevents the tour or the aspect of the tour being undertaken in accordance with your booking or for any other reason considered necessary by WEA.
In the event of any change, modification, cancellation postponement or delay under this condition, you acknowledge that you will have no right of refund of the tour price (whether in whole or in part) and no right to claim compensation for any injury, loss or damage or other additional expenses incurred by virtue of the change, modification, cancellation postponement or delay. WEA also reserves, in its absolute discretion, the right to cancel any tour due to any government travel warning or advice, or any change in such warnings or advice. Travel insurance may compensate you depending on the circumstances.
14. Tour prices
Package prices are per person based on ground costs, fuel prices, exchange rates and assumptions made at the time of prublishing. WEA try their utmost not to increase tour prices, however, sometimes increases are outside our control.
WEA reserves the right to amend tour prices without notice at any time before and including the departure date. Amendments may be necessitated for many reasons including, but not limited to, exchange rate fluctuations, increased fuel costs, airfares, airport charges, increases in ground operator service fees, increased permit costs or taxes or the need to engage alternative air or ground operators. Any increase in tour prices must be paid prior to the departure date.
15. Proof of citizenship or information required to travel
It is your responsibility to obtain proper identification or proof of citizenship as required by the authorities of the destination to which you are travelling. It is required that your passport is valid for six months beyond the date of your return home to your home country.

Without limitation, the following items are excluded from the tour price:

Our tours are physically and mentally challenging and you will be required to consult with your doctor and ensure that your health is sound and you are able to undertake a rigorous training program as necessary to complete this tour. You must accept that you will be travelling through remote areas where external assistance may be delayed or unavailable if an unforeseen event occurs. This may be due to medical, weather or political situations and may affect you or other members of the group or our guiding crew. You must understand and accept that a medical emergency in this remote area may be life-threatening and by completing your booking form you accept these potential adverse and unfavourable conditions and potential life-threatening situations as your choice.
You acknowledge and agree that:
a. By the very nature of adventure travel and trekking/kayaking holidays, they are more challenging and demanding with a commensurately higher level of risk compared with conventional holidays, and involve potential exposure to injury and possibly death;
b. In the countries and regions in which adventure travel is undertaken, standards of accommodation, transport, health care, hygiene, safety and service provision generally are often not as high as those standards in your country of residence and may require flexibility and patience on your part;
c. The additional dangers and risks associated with adventure travel may include difficult and dangerous terrain; high altitude; extreme weather, including sudden and unexpected changes; political instability; remoteness from normal medical services and from communications; and evacuation difficulties in the event of illness or injury;
d. The enjoyment and excitement of adventure travel is derived in part from the inherent dangers and risks associated with adventure travel and that those inherent dangers and risks are a reason why you wish to undertake the adventure tour; and
e. You have submitted your booking for the tour after giving due consideration of relevant travel information including, without limitation, any relevant information or advice given by the governments of Australia, New Zealand and Canada, the British Foreign Office and US Department of State and that it is your responsibility to acquaint yourself with that information or advice. For the above reasons you therefore accept the inherent and increased dangers and risks associated with the proposed adventure tour and the accompanying risk of injury, death or property damage or loss.
f. You will sign and return a waiver form before you depart for your adventure.
18. No liability
You acknowledge and agree that:
a. Where WEA acts as a booking agent for third-party tour operators it accepts no liability for the acts or omissions of those third-party tour operators and does not authorise any suppliers including hotel management to promise refunds on our behalf;
b. Operational control of the tour may be in the hands of a third party and that your right of action in regard to any shortcomings of that third party’s performance is against the third party and not against WEA

d. You may not rely on any representations concerning the tour made by WEA , which are not contained in these conditions.

To the extent permitted by law, by accepting the additional inherent dangers and risks associated with the tour, you release, waive and discharge all WEA representatives from all claims, actions or losses for personal injury or death, property damage, loss of services, loss of profits, consequential, exemplary, indirect or punitive damages or otherwise which may arise:
a. Out of or occur during your travel in connection with the tour or any activities conducted in conjunction with the tour unless caused by the reckless conduct of WEA representatives, or
b. In connection with any optional activities which you may undertake during the course of your tour but which do not comprise part of your tour itinerary and you accept that any assistance given to you by WEA or representatives in arranging such optional activities will not render the WEA representatives liable to you in any way.

Under the Australian Consumer Law, statutory guarantees apply to the supply of recreational services of the kind offered by these terms and conditions. “Recreational services” is defined as including activities that involve a significant degree of physical exertion or risk undertaken for the purposes of recreation, enjoyment or leisure. Under the Australian Consumer Law, WEA , as supplier, is entitled to ask you to agree that these statutory guarantees will not apply to you. If you sign this form you will be agreeing that your rights under this agreement, if you are killed or injured because the services provided were not rendered in accordance with these statutory guarantees, are excluded, restricted or modified in the way set out in this condition.
To the extent permitted by law, you hereby exclude, release and forever discharge all WEA representatives from all liability for any and all claims, loss, damage, cost or expense arising from your death or your suffering physical or mental injury or any other condition, occurrence, activity, form of behaviour, course of conduct or state of affairs as specified in section 139A of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (except in the case of liability arising from the reckless conduct on the part of the WEA or Adventure Out Loud Pty Ltd representatives) and connected with your participation in the recreational services which comprise the tour.
