Women Embrace Adventure is a locally owned and operated business by Sharon Mackay and Katrina Croquett, and is based in beautiful Lake Macquarie, NSW in Awabakal Country.
Our Story
For years, people told us the same thing: "You're always off doing something amazing — we could never do what you do!" After years of working and traveling together through the corporate grind, we decided it was time to stop admiring the view from the sidelines and reach for the stars ourselves.
In 2017, Women Embrace Adventure was born.

Before you go any further, there are a few things we want you to know about us.
​
Connecting women with adventure is where it all started, and it's still what gets us out of bed.
Every day, we meet incredible women from every walk of life — women who often don't realize just how remarkable they are, which honestly floors us every time. We love hearing their stories, and nothing lights us up more than helping someone take a step outside their comfort zone, even a small one.
​
Learning never stops, and neither does our commitment to safety. Adventure brings joy and excitement, but it comes with real risks too. That's why we're serious about training — and teaching — so every woman who joins us can explore in an environment that's supportive and safe. Between the team, we bring qualifications in Outdoor Leadership and Recreation, degrees in Human Movement and Psychology (that last one comes in handy more than you'd think!), Certificate IV in Fitness, and Wilderness and Remote First Aid training. Add to that decades spent on trails, in kayaks, and out on the water, and a hand-picked team of guides who genuinely understand what women need on an adventure. Safety always comes first.

Paying it forward...We're proud to partner with Soul Cafe, Restore One, along with lots of other charitable organisations doing meaningful work. Together with our incredible community of adventurous women, we've raised over $97,000 since 2018 for causes both close to home and around the world.

Our families deserve a mention too — because none of this would be possible without our husbands, kids, and extended families cheering us on behind the scenes. Bless their cotton socks.
