This beautiful walk really comes alive in late winter and spring. This time of year will have us heading into wildflower season - we'll be on the lookout for stunning colourful flora. Amazing coastal views, a side trip to check out a picturesque lagoon and finishing off with a delicious morning tea.

About The Adventure

About the Adventure:   Join us for this sensational sunrise walk through this magical green space. Along the way, we'll take in spectacular seaside views and walk through some amazing coastal vegetation while we loop through Awabakal Nature Reserve. Be sure to have your phone or camera with you as this time of year is wild flower season. We will take a side trip to Redhead Lagoon for some more photo opportunities of the trees reflecting in the water before enjoying a delicious morning tea and a hot drink. We hope you can join us.

Date: Saturday, August 12th

Meeting Time: 5:30 am for a 5:45 am start 

Meeting Point: Reay Park (Ocean Street, Dudley) Details of the exact meeting point will be sent to you in the confirmation email and we'll text specific driving directions the week before our adventure.

Fitness Level: For moderate fitness levels 

Experience: No bushwalking experience is needed however you must have a moderate fitness level and be comfortable walking on sand and bush trails with steps and some moderate inclines and descents.

About the Walk: This walk is rated Grade 3.  We’ll walk approximately 6kms along fire trail and narrow sandy coastal heath. For more about the grading system click on this link. 

Toilets: There are toilets at the start (and finish) of the walk.

Car Parking: There is plenty of on-street parking available at Reay Park.

  • Wilderness First Aid qualified leaders
  • Morning tea including hot drinks and home-baked goodies. (We cater for dietary requirements, please let us know of any dietary needs when booking)

What do I need to bring/wear?

  • day pack with waist strap (to carry your personal belongings)
  • hiking boots, sturdy joggers or trail runners
  • comfortable, sun-protective activewear
  • hat
  • sunscreen 
  • bug spray
  • any personal medications you may need (asthma puffer/epi-pen etc)
  • waterproof jacket (in case of cold/ wet weather)
  • an extra warm layer in case of cold/windy weather
  • at least 2 litres of water (remember we will be walking for a few hours and there are no water fill-up points along the way)
  • we recommend leaving an extra set of clothes in the car in case we run into cold or wet weather
  • hiking poles (optional)

FAQS

How fit do I need to be to join this adventure? This hike covers approx 6 km of moderate levels of terrain. You'll need a moderate/high level of fitness to join us on this walk. The hike covers some slippery downhill sections,  If you're not sure if you are fit enough for the walk please contact us at info@womenembraceadventure.com.au and we will be happy to give you a call to discuss. This trail is not handicapped accessible at this time and pets are not allowed.  

I'll be coming on my own, is that ok?  

Not a problem at all!  Lots of women come on their own to our adventures. Your Women Embrace Adventure host will make sure everyone is introduced before we set off on this beautiful hike. We always have lots of fun, there is no pressure, no judgment, and lots of encouragement from everyone.  By the end of the hike, you may have just found some new adventure friends!

How many will be on our Hike?  We keep our adventures quite personal. On this adventure, there will be no more than 14 women plus your WEA guides.

Your booking is final once your payment is processed and a confirmation email is sent to you. 

No refunds will be given but your spot can be transferred to another lady over the age of 18. 

Please email us at least 24 hours before the adventure and provide her contact details. 

This is an all-weather event. If cancelled by Women Embrace Adventure a credit or full refund will be provided.

This is a women's only adventure. Valid for sale until sold out. Advertised prices are per person. Prices are correct as of 6 April 2022 and are subject to availability, withdrawal and change at any time without notice due to fluctuations in charges and currency.

All current government safety and health guidelines at the time of booking and departure must be adhered to including all Covid-19 requirements. Any additional costs related to but not limited to government travel restrictions are the responsibility of the individual traveller and not Women Embrace Adventure. If this trip is undersubscribed or in circumstances where external events affect the viability or safety of this trip to go ahead, Women Embrace Adventure reserves the right to cancel or reschedule and to exclude/remove any participants from this trip.
