Just 10 minutes drive from Newcastle's CBD, this incredibly diverse and protected 45 hectare natural eco-system will open your eyes to what is one of the most important Egret breeding grounds in Australia, not to mention the reptile and baby crocodile enclosures. And if you know your ducks, the Hunter Wetlands houses one of the oldest and rarest duck breeds in the world - the famous 'Freckled Duck'.
All this and more will be viewed while being guided through a mini rain and pine forest, over board walks, and around diverse bush tracks and trails on your very own Segway.
