About The Adventure

Beautiful bays, calm creeks, paddling through pipes and lots of bird life makes this a perfect paddle for anyone new to kayaking or have paddled before. This kayaking adventure is a great way to enjoy the great outdoors, get active and have some fun with a group of great ladies! Lots of laughter is guaranteed!

We start our adventure with a full safety briefing and paddle lesson before getting on the water for a practice session. Once we feel confident in the kayaks we will paddle along the shore line to one of the southern most parts of Lake Macquarie.  We will then head to a channel that provides access to a set of pipes leading under Rutleys Road. Yes thats right we paddle through the pipes and into Mannering Bay - its pretty narrow and you have to duck a little but it is doable for most and a heck of a lot of fun  (if you have a fear of small spaces - this may not be for you). Then across the Bay and into Wyee Creek and under a conveyor feeding coal to the Vales Point Power Station. As we kayak further upstream we will paddle into an expanse of water know as ‘Deadwoods’. Here there is a small sandy beach where we will disembark to stretch our legs and have some morning tea, a great spot to see kangaroos and water birds. Then we paddle back along the creek and thorugh another set of pipes into Lake Mac. Back at our starting point there will be time for a swim and a

Throughout the day you will be supported by your WEA host and qualified WEA Kayak Guide,  making sure you have a great time and provide a relaxed and fun experience for everyone.

You'll be kayaking in double Mirage Sea Kayaks, which are highly stable and easy to use. You will be paired up on the day with a friend or someone with similar kayak experience. Paddling with someone else only adds to the fun of the day.

Whether you're a newbie or a seasoned paddler, this kayaking adventure promises endless fun amidst tranquil bays and winding creeks. Prepare to be enchanted by the picturesque shoreline as we embark on a journey through nature's wonders.

Before we set sail, our  guides will ensure your safety with a thorough briefing and paddling lesson. Once we're comfortable in our kayaks, we'll venture to the southern reaches of Lake Macquarie, exploring hidden channels and secret passages, including an exciting passage through pipes beneath Rutleys Road into Mannering Bay!  As we glide across the shimmering waters, keep your eyes peeled for kangaroos and water birds along the serene Deadwoods, where we'll pause for a delightful morning tea break on a pristine sandy beach.

Then, it's back through the scenic creek, under another set of pipes, and into Lake Macquarie for a refreshing swim, anothe cuppa and a snack  in the park. Throughout the morning, our experienced WEA hosts and qualified kayak guides will ensure your comfort and enjoyment, creating a relaxed and laughter-filled atmosphere for all. Do I need experience?

Definitely not! We give you a comprehensive briefing before the tour on equipment use, safety and what to expect. We also offer tips to improve your technique to make things easier and more enjoyable for you while on the adventure.

How many women will be on this adventure?

We like to keep things small and intimate at Women Embrace Adventure to offer you a supportive and friendly environment. This adventure is open to ten women only.

Do you have a maximum weight limit for kayaking?

Yes. Our kayaks have a maximum weight rating. As such, we have a maximum weight of 100kgs per person. Please note our kayaks are double sit-in sea kayaks that have a cockpit you will sit in. Please feel free to contact us to chat about the weight limit or cockpit width - we will happily discuss if this adventure is suitable for you.

Am I going to get wet?

Yes and no - you will get some paddle splash as you paddle along, and you will get wet feet getting in and out of the kayak, but usually, that will be all.

I'll be coming on my own, is that ok?

Not a problem at all!  Lots of women come on their own to our adventures. Your Women Embrace Adventure host will make sure everyone meets before we set off on this beautiful kayak. We always have lots of fun; there is no pressure, no judgment, and lots of encouragement from everyone. By the end of the adventure, you may have just found some new adventure friends!

How stable are the kayaks?

You will be kayaking in Mirage Sea Kayaks, which are highly stable, seaworthy and easy to use. The chances of a capsize are remote. You will be wearing a PFD (lifejacket) at all times, and the kayaks are virtually unsinkable due to their airtight compartments. We will also give you a safety briefing before your tour, explaining what to do to avoid capsizing and what to do if you do overturn.

Will bad weather conditions affect my tour?

Wet weather will generally not cause the cancellation of a kayak adventure; in fact, some of the best paddling conditions are in the rain. Wind, on the other hand, can cause cancellations. If the wind is strong enough to be a potential safety risk, we will contact you in the days before the tour to discuss your options. We have some good alternative locations that aren't as affected by the wind. Cancellations that are made due to weather conditions by Women Embrace Adventure are entitled to a full credit or refund.
