Women Embrace Kayaking - Full Day Patonga Creek Paddle

Whether you are new to kayaking or have paddled before, this kayaking adventure is a fantastic way to get out and enjoy the great outdoors, get active and have some fun with a great group of ladies. 

On the day, the pace will be relaxed, the total distance on the water will be about 12km, and will be lead by professional and experienced guides. We will paddle in double sea kayaks along the clear waters of beautiful Patonga Creek and the Hawkesbury River on this relaxing day paddle. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are included with morning tea and lunch to be enjoyed along our journey and afternon tea and a drink enjoyed at the beautiful Boathouse hotel Patonga after our paddle.  Opportunities for swimming, birdwatching and soaking up the scenery and making new friends with the chance for some kayak surfing on the small waves at the mouth of Patonga Creek on our return journey.

All you have to do is bring the paddle power and a sense of adventure and we'll take care of the rest. A guaranteed fun day out with a group amazing women!

You will be kayaking in double Mirage Sea Kayaks, which are extremely stable and easy to use.  On the day we will pair you up with a friend or if your on your own with someone with similar kayak experience. Paddling with someone else only adds to the fun of the day.

• Time: Full Day Adventure – 8:30 am start with a plan to be off the water at 3pm followed by a drink and afternoon tea at the Hotel.

FAQs

What do I need to bring?

Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, clothing and footwear that can get wet (old joggers or water shoes are good - thongs are not), a change of clothing, towel, jacket/raincoat (if rain/cold), 2 litres of water, a camera (try to keep it dry in 2 ziplock bags), any special medications you might need.  A plastic garbage bag is also good for keeping things like your jacket or towel dry.  We will have a dry bag available for car keys. 

How fit do I need to be?

This is a full-day kayak tour and around 6 hours in duration. We need a moderate level of fitness to participate and make it an enjoyable experience. Our attitude is that it's your day, and we will paddle at a speed YOU are comfortable with, and have rest stops as often as YOU like. 

Do I need experience?

Definitely not! You do need to be able to swim though as we will be on the water all day. We'll give you a comprehensive briefing before the tour on equipment use, safety and what to expect while on the water. We also offer tips to improve your technique to make things easier and more enjoyable for you while on the adventure.

 

How many Women will be on my tour?

We like to keep things quite small and intimate at Women Embrace Adventure to offer you a supportive and friendly environment. Generally there will be between 8 and 14 women on your adventure.

What if I don't have anyone to go with?

Not a problem at all, in fact, most of our ladies come solo on their first few adventures then end up meeting some new friends along the way.  We will introduce everyone and you'll find all our adventures provide a very welcoming, fun and inclusive environment.  By the end of the day, you may just have some new outdoor adventure buddies!

Will bad weather conditions affect my tour?

Wet weather will generally not cause the cancellation of a kayak tour, in fact, some of the best paddling conditions are in the rain. Wind and lightening, on the other hand, can cause cancellations. If the wind is strong enough to be a potential safety risk, we will contact you in the days before the tour to discuss your options. We have some good alternative locations that aren't affected by the wind. Once payment is made it is non-refundable however it is transferable. Please be aware these are women-only tours and can only be transferred to a female over 18 years of age). If cancelled by Women Embrace Adventure due to weather/safety issues a full refund or credit (whichever you prefer) will be provided.

Am I going to get wet?

Probably a bit wet - you will get some paddle splash as you paddle along, and you will get wet feet getting in and out of the kayak, a wet bottom maybe, but generally that will be all.

How stable are the kayaks?

You will be kayaking in double Sea Kayaks that are state of the art. They are extremely stable, seaworthy and easy to use. The chances of a capsize are remote. You will be wearing a PFD (lifejacket) at all times and the kayaks are virtually unsinkable due to their airtight compartments.

We will also give you a safety briefing before your tour explaining what to do to avoid capsizing, and what to do if you do capsize!
