About The Adventure

About the Adventure:   Join us to explore a popular area of Brisbane Water National Park on our Women Embrace Piles Creek Hike!  On this challenging 6km hike, we’ll pass waterfalls, jump over rivers, take in the vista of the valley from Illoura lookout, pass through gorgeous eucalypt forests and cross a suspension bridge. We’ll start and finish in the large picnic area near the car park, where we’ll enjoy morning tea and a cuppa after our rewarding hike.  We hope you can join us!

Meeting Time: 7:15 am for a 7:30 am start 

Meeting Point: Somersby, NSW. A map of the exact meeting point will be sent to you via text in the week leading up to the event.

Experience: Some hiking experience is recommended due to the uneven terrain and number of stairs on this hike

This trail is not handicapped accessible, and dogs are not permitted in the park.

Length: The hike is a very challenging 6km and will take us about 3-4 hours to complete, including morning tea.

Parking: There is a car park at the beginning of the walk.  National Park entrance fees apply – if you don’t have a National Parks annual pass, you can purchase a day pass at the machines in the car park for $8

Inclusions:

  • National Parks Licencing Fees and Permits
  • WEA Wilderness first aid qualified leaders
  • A delicious morning tea of baked goodies and a hot drink. We cater for most dietary requirements, please let us know of your needs at the time of booking.
  • Photos of your adventure are posted on our Facebook event page for you to download
  • Fun and adventure with a bunch of like-minded, fun-loving women!

FAQS

What do I need to bring?

We will send you a complete list when you register, but here's an idea of what you need:

-day pack (to carry your personal belongings)

-hiking boots, sturdy joggers or trail runners with excellent tread are needed

-sun hat

-sunscreen and sun-protective clothing

-bug spray

-any personal medications you may need (asthma puffer/epi-pen etc)

-waterproof jacket (in case of cold/wet weather)

-an extra warm layer in case of cold/windy weather

-hike poles (optional)

-at least 2 litres of water (remember we will be walking for a number of hours and there are no water fill-up points along the way)

-we recommend leaving an extra set of clothes in the car for after the hike in case we run into cold or wet weather along the way

How fit do I need to be? Moderate To see if this activity is fit for you, check out our Activity / Fitness Guide. This hike covers approximately 12km of moderate levels of terrain. You will need a moderate level of fitness to participate comfortably. This trail is not handicapped accessible at this time and pets are not allowed.

I'll be coming on my own, is that ok?

Not a problem at all!  Lots of women come solo to our adventures. Your Women Embrace Adventure host will make sure everyone is introduced before we set off on this beautiful hike. We always have lots of fun; there's no pressure, no judgment, and lots of encouragement from everyone.  By the end of the hike, you may have just found some new adventure friends!

By making a booking, you agree to and accept our terms and conditions, including these Terms and Conditions, our Covid-19 Policy and the Waiver of Liability.

Your booking is final once your payment is processed and a confirmation email is sent to you. No refunds will be given, but you can pay it forward to another lady over the age of 18. Please email us at least 24 hours before the adventure and provide her contact details. This is an all-weather event. If cancelled by Women Embrace Adventure, a credit or full refund will be provided.

This is a women's only adventure. Valid for sale until sold out. Advertised prices are per person. Prices are correct as of 7 February 2024 and are subject to availability, withdrawal and change at any time without notice due to fluctuations in charges and currency.

All current government safety and health guidelines at the time of booking and departure must be adhered to, including all Covid-19 requirements. Any additional costs related to but not limited to government travel restrictions are the responsibility of the individual traveller and not Women Embrace Adventure. If this trip is undersubscribed or in circumstances where external events affect the viability or safety of this trip to go ahead, Women Embrace Adventure reserves the right to cancel or reschedule and to exclude/remove any participants from this trip. Your booking is non-transferable.
