About The Adventure

Embark on an unforgettable journey with us as we raise funds for the Mirror of Hope!

Get ready for a day filled with adventure and purpose, surrounded by like-minded women eager to make a difference. Our adventure promises an exhilarating lineup: from witnessing the breathtaking sunrise at Wangi Wangi Point to a rejuvenating bushwalk along Lake Macquarie's tranquil shores.

But that's just the beginning! Following the sunrise spectacle, we'll embark on a serene 5km kayaking expedition, with yoga mats and breakfast packed and ready. Glide along the water's edge, soaking in the scenic beauty as we paddle towards the sand islands of Swansea. Whether you're a kayaking novice or seasoned paddler, all are welcome to join in the fun. Our expert instructors will ensure you're equipped with the skills needed for a smooth journey.

As we reach a secluded beach, it's time to unwind and stretch with an invigorating yoga session led by the talented Sonja Duncan. With her wealth of experience and adventurous spirit, Sonja will guide us through a dynamic blend of balance, strength, and focus, all while supporting the cause close to our hearts.

Post-yoga bliss awaits with a beachside breakfast, offering a chance to refuel and bask in the morning sun. And if a refreshing swim calls your name, dive right in—the water's perfect!

A leisurely 2.5km paddle and we are back to our starting point.

We only ask that you come with a moderate level of fitness to ensure everyone enjoys the walk and kayak journey ahead. On the day, our dedicated hosts and kayak guides will be there to support and ensure a relaxed, fun-filled experience for all.

Experience this journey in our double Mirage Sea Kayaks—stable and user-friendly. You'll be paired with a friend or someone with similar kayak experience.

Get ready to embrace the adventure and make a difference to those less fortunate.

We would love you to join us! 🚣‍♀️🧘‍♀️🌅

How fit do I need to be?

You will need a moderate level of fitness to enjoy this adventure best. You need to be able to swim (50 metres with a life jacket on) and be confident in the water. This is your adventure, and we will paddle at a speed YOU are comfortable with and have rest stops as often as YOU like.

Do I need experience?

No!  If you have a moderate level of fitness you will be fine. Our walk is around 5kms and a easy wander along the Wangi Waterfront. Before kayaking we give you a comprehensive briefing before we hit the water on equipment use, safety and what to expect. We also offer tips to improve your technique to make things easier and more enjoyable for you while on the adventure. The Yoga session is fine for yoga beginners or those who are have been doing yoga for years, we will make sure you get modifications to suit your level.

How many women will be on this adventure?

We like to keep things small and intimate at Women Embrace Adventure to offer you a supportive and friendly environment. This adventure is open to 12 women only plus your guides, instructor and hosts.

Do you have a maximum weight limit for kayaking?

Yes. Our kayaks have a maximum weight rating. As such, we have a maximum weight of 100 kg per person. Please note our kayaks are double sit-in sea kayaks that have a cockpit you will sit in that is 45cms wide. Please feel free to contact us to chat about the weight limit or cockpit width - we will happily discuss if this adventure is suitable for you.

Do I need to bring my own Kayak?

Nope, we provide all kayaks and the equipment you need to fully enjoy this adventure. You are not able to bring your own kayak due to insurance restrictions.

Am I going to get wet?

Yes and no, well, maybe!  You will get some paddle splash as you paddle along and will get wet feet getting in and out of the kayak, but usually, that will be all.

I'll be coming on my own, is that ok?

Not a problem at all!  Lots of women come on their own to our adventures. Your Women Embrace Adventure host will make sure everyone meets before we set off on this beautiful kayak. We always have lots of fun; there is no pressure, no judgment, and lots of encouragement from everyone. By the end of the adventure, you may have just found some new adventure friends!

How stable are the kayaks?

You will be kayaking in Mirage Sea Kayaks, which are highly stable, seaworthy and easy to use. The chances of a capsize are remote. You will be wearing a PFD (lifejacket) at all times, and the kayaks are virtually unsinkable due to their airtight compartments. We will also give you a safety briefing before your tour, explaining what to do to avoid capsizing and what to do if you do overturn.

Will bad weather conditions affect my tour?

Wet weather will generally not cause the cancellation of a kayak adventure; in fact, some of the best paddling conditions are in the rain. Wind, on the other hand, can cause cancellations. If the wind is strong enough to be a potential safety risk, we will contact you in the days before the tour to discuss your options. We have some good alternative locations that aren't as affected by the wind. Cancellations that are made due to weather conditions by Women Embrace Adventure are entitled to a full credit or refund.
