Women Embrace Coastal Walk - Blacksmiths to Miners Point, Lake Macquarie, NSW

About the Adventure:   Join us on this beautiful early morning 10km walk along the Lake Macquarie entrance from Blacksmiths Beach to the recently re-named Miners Point (named in recognition of the coal mining families who lived here between 1915 and 1974). This walk offers stunning coastal views of Redhead and Swansea Heads, the breezy lakeside pathways of Swansea and grassland trails through Pirrita Island Reserve. We will enjoy spectacular views across the lake towards Naru Beach and Elizabeth Island from the Miners Point Lookout and finish off with a refreshing stroll along Blacksmiths breakwall before returning to our starting point for some home-baked goodies and refreshments.

Date: Thursday, December 14th 2023

Meeting Time: 6:30am for a 6:45 am start 

Meeting Point: Swansea Belmont Surf Lifesaving Club.  Details of the exact meeting point will be sent to you upon registration. We will also send you driving details via text the week before our adventure.

Fitness Level: For moderate fitness levels

Experience: No bushwalking experience is needed. However, you need to have a moderate fitness level to enjoy your walk fully.  You will need to be comfortable walking on sand and bush trails, some steps, some moderate up and downhills.

About the Walk:  This is a grade 2 Walk. We will walk approximately 10kms  along paved pathways and grassy coastal trails. For more about the grading system click on this link

Toilets: There are toilets at the walk's start, middle and finish of the walk.

Car Parking: There is plenty of free parking at the Swansea Belmont Surf Lifesaving Club

• Morning tea including hot/cold drinks and home-baked goodies. (We cater for most dietary requirements, please let us know of any needs when booking)

What do I need to bring/wear?

• small day pack with waist strap (to carry your personal belongings)
• hiking boots, sturdy joggers or trail runners
• comfortable, sun-protective activewear
• swimmers and a towel if you'd like to have a dip in the ocean after
• hat
• sunscreen 
• bug spray
• any personal medications you may need (asthma puffer/epi-pen etc)
• waterproof jacket (in case of cold/ wet weather)
• an extra warm layer in case of cold/windy weather
• at least 1 ltr of water

How fit do I need to be to join this adventure? This hike covers approx 10km of easy to moderate levels of terrain. You'll need a moderate level of fitness to join us on this walk. If you're not sure if you are fit enough for the walk please contact us at info@womenembraceadventure.com.au and we will be happy to give you a call to discuss. This trail is not handicapped accessible at this time and pets are not allowed.  

I'll be coming on my own, is that ok?  

Not a problem at all!  Lots of women come on their own to our adventures. Your Women Embrace Adventure host will make sure everyone is introduced before we set off on this beautiful hike. We always have lots of fun, there is no pressure, no judgment, and lots of encouragement from everyone.  By the end of the hike, you may have just found some new adventure friends!

How many will be on our Hike?  We keep our adventures quite personal. On this adventure, there will be no more than 10 women plus your WEA guides.

Your booking is final once your payment is processed and a confirmation email is sent to you. 

No refunds will be given but your spot can be transferred to another lady over the age of 18. Please email us at least 24 hours before the adventure and provide her contact details. This is an all-weather event. If cancelled by Women Embrace Adventure a credit or full refund will be provided.

This is a women's only adventure. Valid for sale until sold out. Advertised prices are per person. Prices are correct as of 21 April 2022 and are subject to availability, withdrawal and change at any time without notice due to fluctuations in charges and currency.

All current government safety and health guidelines at the time of booking and departure must be adhered to, including all Covid-19 requirements. Any additional costs related to but not limited to government travel restrictions are the responsibility of the individual traveller and not Women Embrace Adventure. If this trip is undersubscribed or in circumstances where external events affect the viability or safety of this trip to go ahead, Women Embrace Adventure reserves the right to cancel or reschedule and to exclude/remove any participants from this trip.
