About The Adventure

Join us for an action-packed adventure.! This one has it all.... bushwalking, kayaking, like-minded adventure women, coffee, tea and baked goods.... a perfect way to start a Saturday morning.

About the Adventure:  Starting from Wangi at the Lake Macquarie Conservation Area and walk through towering forests to the shores of Lake Macquarie on the Wangi circuit walking track, with wonderful scenic views of Pulbah Island and Belmont. We then continue on and take a peaceful waterfront walk along the shores of Wangi Wangi Point. The walk is approximately 5kms all up.

But that's not where our adventure ends, our kayaks will be ready for us to jump in and paddle back to the Conservation area.

This will be a leisurely 4km paddle along the water's edge. Whether you are new to kayaking or have paddled before you can join us for this adventure, we'll provide full paddle instruction before we set off.

All we ask is you have a moderate level of fitness to ensure it is an enjoyable walk and kayak for you as we are covering quite a distance both on foot and on water.

To finish off, we will share morning tea, including coffee, tea, cool drinks and some delicious home-baked goodies.

On the day, you'll be supported by your Women Embrace Adventure host and Kayak Guide, who will ensure you have a great time and provide a relaxed and fun experience for everyone.

Do I need kayaking experience?

Definitely not! You'll receive a comprehensive briefing before we begin on equipment use, safety and what to expect while on the adventure. We also offer tips to improve your technique to make things easier and more enjoyable for you.

What do I need to bring/wear?

-day pack (to carry your personal belongings)

-wear hiking boots, sturdy joggers or trail runners

-enclosed shoes for kayaking that can get wet (old joggers are good)

-comfortable/sun-protective activewear you can hike and kayak in.

-hat

-sunglasses

-bug spray

-any personal medications you may need (asthma puffer/epi-pen etc)

-waterproof jacket (in case of cold/ wet weather)

-an extra warm layer in case of cold/windy weather

-at least 2 litres of water

-leave an extra set of clothes and a towel in the car so can get changed after our adventure

What about my keys and phone?

We'll have a communal dry bag for your keys, and we suggest you leave any non-waterproof phones/cameras.

I'll be coming on my own, is that ok?

Not a problem at all, lots of women come on their own to our adventures. Your Women Embrace Adventure host will make sure everyone is introduced before we set off on this beautiful hike and pair you up with someone to paddle with. We always have lots of fun, there's no pressure, no judgment, and lots of encouragement from everyone.  By the end of the adventure, you may have just found some new adventure friends!

**Do you have a maximum weight limit for kayaking?**

Yes. Our kayaks have a maximum weight rating. As such, we have a maximum weight of 100kgs per person. Please note our kayaks are double sit-in sea kayaks that have a cockpit you will sit in.

The cockpit width is 46cms wide where your hips will sit.

Please feel free to contact us if you are worried about the weight limit or cockpit width - we will happily have a chat.

Am I going to get wet?

Yes and no - you will get some paddle splash as you paddle along, and you will get wet feet getting in and out of the kayak, but generally, that will be all.

How stable are the kayaks?

You will be kayaking in Mirage Sea Kayaks which are extremely stable, seaworthy and easy to use. The chances of a capsize are remote. You will be wearing a PFD (lifejacket) at all times, and the kayaks are virtually unsinkable due to their airtight compartments. We will also give you a safety briefing before your tour, explaining what to do to avoid capsizing and what to do if you overturn.

Will bad weather conditions affect my tour?

Wet weather will generally not cause the cancellation of a kayak adventure; in fact, some of the best paddling conditions are in the rain. Wind, on the other hand, can cause cancellations. If the wind is strong enough to be a potential safety risk, we will contact you in the days before the tour to discuss your options. Additionally, we have some good alternative locations that aren't affected by the wind. Cancellations that are made due to weather conditions made by Women Embrace Adventure are entitled to a full refund, or we can transfer your booking to another day.
