About The Adventure

Join us and spend a couple of hours walking and talking with a bunch of fabulous women in Beautiful Blackbutt Reserve, followed by a delicious BBQ breakfast complete with egg and bacon rolls, tea, coffee and fruit.  A perfect start to a Sunday!

About the Hike: A beautiful bush reserve in the middle of Newcastle, the Blackbutt Reserve is a nature oasis! This Bushwalk is a women's only guided walk along the Blackbutt Circuit Walking Track in Blackbutt and Richleys Reserve, with Women Embrace Adventure hosts leading the way.​ Blackbutt Circuit is approx 7km and a moderate graded walk. After our walk, sit down and relax as your hosts whip you up a delicious BBQ breakfast!


Date: Sunday 28th November 2021

Meeting Time: 6:45 am for a 7:00 am start 

Meeting point:  Richley Reserve, New Lambton, NSW.  (Please note there is a parking charge in the reserve carpark. If you do not wish to pay you can park outside the gates and walk-in) The exact meeting location will be sent via text a couple of days before the event.

Hike Grade: This walk is graded a level 3. For more details on the grading system, click here

Maximum Numbers: 12 plus your WEA guides 

Fitness Level: A moderate level of fitness is required.

Experience: no hiking experience is needed 

Length: the walk is approximately 7kms long

How fit do I need to be? This hike covers approx 7kms of moderate walking. There are some stairs, some hills, uneven levels of terrain, as well as some paved walkways and grasslands; it's got a bit of everything. You'll need a moderate level of fitness to join us on this walk. If you're not sure about your fitness level, give us a ring; we're happy to have a chat and give you all the details. This trail is not handicapped accessible at this time, and pets are not allowed. 

What do I need to bring/wear?

-day pack (to carry your personal belongings)

-hiking boots, sturdy joggers or trail runners


-sunscreen and sun-protective clothing

-bug spray

-any personal medications you may need (asthma puffer/epi-pen etc.)

-waterproof jacket (in case of cold/ wet weather)

-an extra warm layer in case of cold/windy weather 

-at least 2 litres of water (remember we will be walking for a couple of hours, and there are  limited fill-up points along the way)

I'll be coming on my own, is that ok?  

Not a problem at all!  Lots of women come on their own to our adventures. Your Women Embrace Adventure host will make sure everyone meets before we set off on this beautiful hike. We always have lots of fun; there is no pressure, no judgment, and lots of encouragement from everyone.  By the end of the hike, you may have just found some new adventure friends!

How many will be on our hike?  We keep our adventures quite personal. On this adventure, there will be no more than 12 women plus your WEA guides.
