Women Embrace A Taste of Soul Fundraising Dinner

Join us at the Soul Cafe for A Taste of Soul! This is an evening you'll not soon forget as we get to experience the fantastic work the team of the Soul Cafe do for the disadvantaged people of the Newcastle region. 

The evening will start with a welcome drink, nibbles and mingling with your fellow WEA guests, then sit down to a hearty home-cooked dinner and dessert in the dining room where Soul Cafe serves lunch to those less fortunate six days a week. Throughout the night, we'll hear from the volunteers that run the charity about how Soul Cafe makes a massive difference to its guests; it's way more than a free meal for each of them. We'll take a tour of the Soul premises and we're sure you'll be amazed at the service with dignity they offer every day.

Did you know the fastest-growing group of disadvantaged Australians is women over 50? Through circumstances like divorce, underemployment, lower than average superannuation savings, many women in what should be their 'golden years' find themselves in desperate need of help for the basics needed to survive; food and shelter. Women Embrace Adventure is proud to partner with Soul Cafe to offer a hand up in any small way we can. 

A bit of the Soul Cafe.....

Soul Cafe was established in August 2003 to serve hot meals, free of charge, to the highly disadvantaged of the Newcastle region. Today, they provide hundreds of free sit down and take away meals each week.

Many of Soul Cafe's guests deal with homelessness, drug or alcohol addiction, crime or violence, poverty, separation, mental health or illness concerns, and accommodation needs.

They really do more than just serve a meal; the ultimate mission is to see vulnerable cafe guests placed on a path towards increased safety, health and purpose. They aim to lift a group of people who are less fortunate to a greater level of lifestyle within our community through a comprehensive approach that assists them in working through their issues and re-engaging back into society. In addition, the meals provided are an avenue to link cafe guests with other necessary services including drug and alcohol and substance abuse programs, accommodation links, Centrelink referral, mental health counselling, refuge referral, haircuts, legal aid, podiatry and a free doctor's clinic. 

Soul Cafe is non-government funded and relies primarily on financial sponsorship from corporations and individuals and, to a lesser extent, on our own fundraising endeavours. 

Soul Cafe is a local community organisation addressing local community needs, supported by local community corporate and private members, Women Embrace Adventure is proud to partner with them to offer a hand up to those in need.

Meeting Time: 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start

Meeting Point: Soul Cafe Newcastle.  Details of the exact meeting point will be sent to you upon registration.

Maximum Numbers: This event is open to 60 lucky ladies

Cost: $90 pp (all proceeds go to The Soul Cafe to continue their amazing work) 

Dress: Smart Casual

FAQs

Can I purchase drinks on the night?

Drinks are included; however, we will encourage a donation for your drinks throughout the night.

Can I book a table?

Yes, you can! Everyone will be seated at tables of 4 for the evening. At the checkout, there's the option for single tickets of tickets for a table of 4.

I am coming on my own?

Not a problem at all, you'll be seated at tables of 4, we'll make the introductions, and we're sure you will have some great new friends by the end of the evening.

Stay Safe Procedures: To prioritise the wellbeing of women, staff and our community, Women Embrace Adventure and Soul Cafe are taking necessary measures to limit the transmission of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). All NSW rules regarding Covid19 in place when the event occurs will be adhered to.  This may include the following:

*Contactless registration 

*QR Covid Safe Log/Double Vaccination is required 

*Zero share equipment, utensils

*Providing hand sanitiser to use at the start and during each adventure

*Ensuring social distancing throughout the adventure

Before attending an adventure, please:

*Stay home if you or your family are unwell or you have been advised to quarantine. 

*Wash your hands before joining us and use hand sanitiser often

*Continue to social distance

Terms and Conditions: Payment for WEA half-day adventures are final once payment is processed. No refunds will be given. Tickets may be transferred to another lady over the age of 18 who meets the criteria for this adventure; please email us at least 24 hours before the adventure to provide her contact details.
