About The Adventure

This Hikenic is a women’s only guided hike along Wangi Wangi waterfront and into Lake Macquarie Conservation area with 2 Embrace Escape hosts leading the way.

Saturday 19th May, 8:30am – 11:30 am

Meeting point: Wangi Wangi Workers Club carpark, 11-19 Market Street, Wangi Wangi, NSW. Meet us on Saturday May 19th at 8:15am at the latest so we can start our walk at 8:30am sharp. Please allow 3 hours for this hike to cover the length of the walk and some time to rest and restore at the end with a morning tea picnic.

About the Hike: The walk is an approx 9km guided walk along the waterfront walking into Lake Macquarie Conservation area at Wangi Point. Start walking on the waterfront walking path towards Wangi point. Take a peaceful bushwalk through towering forests to the shores of Lake Macquarie on Wangi circuit walking track, with wonderful scenic views of Pulbah Island, birdwatching and beautiful Lake Macquarie. The serene bushwalk through towering trees gives you the feeling you’re a million miles away from the suburbs, though it’s not far at all. This is an easy – moderate walk that includes walking on pathways, grass, bush tracks and road. The walk does include a few hills and bush steps along the way. We do recommend you have a moderate level of fitness to ensure it is an enjoyable walk for you as we are covering quite a distance. If in doubt, check with your doctor about your suitability.  Your hosts are first aid qualified.

About the Picnic: After the hike we'll relax on the waterfront for a picnic morning tea including a healthy selection of fresh fruit, muffins and protein balls along with some cold refreshing drinks.  We can work within your dietary needs so let us know if you have any when you book.

Cost: $18 per person with $5 going to our 2018 Charitable partner, Restore One.   Payment due in full upon booking. Pay Pal or direct credit card accepted through our secure site.  Credit card payments are facilitated by Square.

I haven’t done this before, will I be fit enough? This hike covers easy to moderate levels of terrain, most is flat and paved but there are a few moderate hills and stairs so we recommend having a moderate level of fitness so you can enjoy your surroundings.  No one gets left behind, with 2 guides we will have one at the front and one at the end to support all hikers.  This trail is not handicapped accessible at this time and not pet friendly.

Do I need to bring anything with me? Just make sure you wear a pair of joggers or hiking boots, and bring along a water bottle and a hat and sunscreen. You may also want to bring a small backpack to put your belongings in. We'll bring your morning tea and a first aid kit (not that we will need it.)

What if I don’t have anyone to go with? No problem at all, there are 2 Embrace Escape hosts to make sure everyone is introduced to everyone before we set off. By the end of the Hikenic we are sure you would have found some new friends.

Booking terms and Conditions: Payment for Hikenics are final once you receive a confirmation email.  No refunds will be given. This is an all weather event.  See full T&C on our website.
