Embrace Kayaking - Full Day Hawkesbury River Paddle and BBQ

Whether you are new to kakaking or have paddled before, this kayaking adventure is a fantastic way to get out and enjoy the great outdoors, get active and have some fun with a group of great ladies.

During this beautiful 14 - 16 km paddle you will enjoy kayaking past some of the most sensational scenery on the Hawkesbury River. We will stop for morning tea as well as a BBQ lunch along the way, explore and swim at refuge bay or cottage rock (depending on the day and what is the best option), enjoy a rinse under a beautiful waterfall and if time permits we could even have a game of beach cricket. This is an all inclusive event and a delicious morning tea and lunch is included in the price so you don't have to worry about a thing, we cater for special dietary needs so be sure to let us know upon booking. All you have to do is bring the paddle power and a sense of adventure and we will take care of the rest. A guaranteed fun day out with a group amazing women.

On the day you will be supported by a Women Embrace Adventure host as well as a fully qualified Outdoor Recreation guide. They will ensure you get all the instruction you need to paddle confidently and have a great day. Your Guides goal is to provide a relaxed and fun experience for everyone involved.

You will be kayaking in double Mirage Sea Kayaks, which are extremely stable and easy to use. On the day we will pair you up with a friend or if your on your own with someone with similar kayak experience. Paddling with someone else only adds to the fun of the day.

FAQs

What do I need to bring?

Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, clothing and footwear that can get wet (old joggers or water shoes are good - thongs are not), a change of clothing, towel, jacket / raincoat (if rain/cold), 2 litres of water, a camera (try to keep it dry in 2 ziplock bags), any special medications you might need. A plastic garbage bag is also good for keeping things like your jacket or towel dry. We will have a dry bag available for car keys.

How fit do I need to be?

This is a full-day kayak tour and around 7.5 hours in duration. We recommend you need a moderate level of fitness to participate and make it an enjoyable experience. Our attitude is that it's your day, and we will paddle at a speed YOU are comfortable with, and have rest stops as often as YOU like.

Do I need experience?

Definitely not! We give you a comprehensive briefing before the tour on equipment use, safety and what to expect while on the tour. We also offer tips to improve your technique to make things easier and more enjoyable for you while on the tour.

How many Women will be on my tour?

We like to keep things quite small and intimate at Embrace Escapes to offer you a supportive and friendly environment. Generally there will be between 2 and 14 people on your adventure.

Will bad weather conditions affect my tour?

Wet weather will generally not cause the cancellation of a kayak tour, in fact, some of the best paddling conditions are in the rain.

Wind on the other hand, can cause cancellations. If the wind is strong enough to be a potential safety risk, we will contact you in the days before the tour to discuss your options. We have some good alternative locations that aren't affected by the wind.

Cancellations that are made due to weather conditions made by Women Embrace Adventure are entitled to a full refund, or we can transfer your booking to another day.

Once payment is made it is non-refundable. However, if you absolutely cannot make it after registration and payment is made you may transfer your tour to another person ( please be aware these are women only tours and can only be transferred to a female over 18 years of age)

Am I going to get wet?

Yes and no - you will get some paddle splash as you paddle along, and you will get wet feet getting in and out of the kayak, but generally that will be all.

How stable are the kayaks?

You will be kayaking in double Sea Kayaks that are state of the art. They are extremely stable, seaworthy and easy to use. The chances of a capsize are remote. You will be wearing a PFD (lifejacket) at all times and the kayaks are virtually unsinkable due to their airtight compartments.

We will also give you a safety briefing before your tour explaining what to do to avoid capsizing, and what to do if you do capsize! The few capsizes that we have had on tour were from people playing around trying to splash each other etc.
