Embrace Hiking Berowra to Mt Kuring gai via Cowan Creek

Join us for this beautiful, fully guided and supported 11 km hike from Berowra to Kuring-gai. From the ridges above Cowan Creek, this walk takes in some great lookouts (especially around Mt Kuring-gai), as well as enjoying a stunning bush track along the creek. We'll take the time to enjoy the many rest areas along the way, stopping to catch our breath, take in the beautiful scenery, and capture a few photos. This track gives hikers a good taste of what Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park has to offer. The hike will take 5- 6 hours in total, including lunch and afternoon tea breaks and time to enjoy our surroundings.

Experience: Some hiking experience is recommended due to the uneven terrain, the number of hills, steps and trip hazzards on this hike. This trail is not handicapped accessible, and dogs are not permitted in the park.

Length: The hike is challenging  in parts, 11km in distance and will take us about 5-6 hours to complete, including morning tea and lunch stops. Note: the itinerary may change based on park closures and weather but that's all part of the adventure!

Parking: There is off street parking at Berowra Train Station and on street parking at Mt Kuring gai (there will be a train transfer involved at the start or finish of this hike, more information to follow once you are booked in.)

What do I need to bring?

We'll send you a complete list when you register, but here's an idea of what you need:

-day pack (to carry your personal belongings)

-hiking boots, sturdy trail runners, well worn in with excellent tread are needed

-sun hat

-sunscreen and sun-protective clothing-long sleeves are best

-bug spray

-any personal medications you may need (asthma puffer/epi-pen etc)

-waterproof jacket (in case of cold/wet weather)

-an extra warm layer in case of cold/windy weather

-hike poles (optional)

-at least 2 litres of water (remember we will be walking for a number of hours and there are no water fill-up points along the way)

-we recommend leaving an extra set of clothes in the car for after the hike in case we run into cold or wet weather along the way

-Opal card/credit card for the train shuffle to start or finish

How fit do I need to be? We will cover approximately 11 km of moderate to hard terrain. You will need a moderate to high level of fitness to participate comfortably and fully enjoy the experience. I'll be coming on my own, is that ok?

Not a problem at all!  Lots of women come solo to our adventures. Your Women Embrace Adventure hosts will make sure everyone is introduced before we set off on this beautiful hike. We always have lots of fun; there's no pressure, no judgment, and lots of encouragement from everyone.  By the end of the hike, you may have just found some new adventure friends!

How many will be on our Hike?  We keep our adventures quite personal. On this adventure, there will be no more than 14 women plus your WEA guides.

Your booking is final once your payment is processed and a confirmation email is sent to you. No refunds will be given, but you can pay it forward to another lady over the age of 18. Please email us at least 24 hours before the adventure and provide her contact details. This is an all-weather event. If cancelled by Women Embrace Adventure, a credit or full refund will be provided.

This is a women's only adventure. Valid for sale until sold out. Advertised prices are per person. Prices are correct as of 7 February 2024 and are subject to availability, withdrawal and change at any time without notice due to fluctuations in charges and currency.

All current government safety and health guidelines at the time of booking and departure must be adhered to, including all Covid-19 requirements. Any additional costs related to but not limited to government travel restrictions are the responsibility of the individual traveller and not Women Embrace Adventure. If this trip is undersubscribed or in circumstances where external events affect the viability or safety of this trip to go ahead, Women Embrace Adventure reserves the right to cancel or reschedule and to exclude/remove any participants from this trip. Your booking is non-transferable.
