Covid 19 Policy

Women Embrace Adventure have developed this COVID-19 policy after careful consideration of the health and safety of our Participants, guides, communities and third-party partners. Women Embrace Adventure continues to closely monitor local government health advice to ensure we remain compliant with state rules and regulations.

All Women Embrace Adventure guides have up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination. In exceptional circumstances, a guide may hold an approved medical exemption, in which case they will have returned a negative COVID-19 test result within 24 hours prior to the commencement of an adventure. All Women Embrace Adventure guides are trained in our COVID-19 operational response plan, which will continue to evolve as in line with government recommendations regarding COVID-19 risks.

Any guide who shows symptoms will be requested not to attend the workplace or deliver your adventure until they have undergone and received a negative COVID-19 test result, at which time they will be permitted to return to work.

All Adventures

COVID-19 is highly contagious, and there is a risk of exposure to all of us anywhere people are together in social settings. This risk cannot be removed entirely, and by joining a Women Embrace Adventure activity, Participants voluntarily assume that they may encounter the virus.

Women Embrace Adventure remains vigilant to ensure the risk of exposure is reasonably managed through COVID-19 operating protocols (which continue to evolve).

These operating protocols include:

  • Pre-commencement COVID-19 safety briefing outlining protocols as well as Participant and guide’s responsibilities to ensure everyone’s safety during an adventure;

  • Implementing safe distancing practices wherever practicable;

  • Having hand sanitiser and masks readily available at all times;

  • Monitoring Participant health through temperature checks if required or Rapid Antigen COVID-19 tests; and

  • Requiring all Participants, guides, and third-party partners to comply with regulations for wearing a mask indoors and requiring masks to be worn when travelling in vehicles to reduce the possible risk of COVID-19 transmission in enclosed spaces.

Participants are required to adhere to local COVID-19 regulations at all times. Failure to do so will result in removal from an adventure.

If you have even the mildest of COVID-19 symptoms, you should stay at home and get tested.

If a Participant displays COVID-19 symptoms, Women Embrace Adventure reserves the right, at our discretion, to require the Participant to take a Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test and/or to remove the Participant from the adventure.

Participants should carry a face mask and hand sanitiser at all times, regardless of whether the adventure is indoors, outdoors or a combination of both.

Half- and Full-Day Adventures

Should a Participant be affected by COVID-19, including isolation requirements prior to the commencement of a half or full-day adventure, no refunds will be given however Women Embrace Adventure will accept a transfer to another female over the age of 18. Participants should contact Women Embrace Adventure if they are unable to attend or wish to transfer a half or full-day adventure.

Multi-Day Adventures

Prior to commencement

As the information may differ depending on the location of a multi-day adventure, Participants should research the COVID-19 requirements for the location, especially when travelling interstate or internationally, to ensure that they comply. Participants with a medical exemption from COVID-19 vaccination should pay particular attention to any additional government-imposed requirements for unvaccinated persons. Women Embrace Adventure accepts no liability for a Participant’s failure to comply with local regulations.

Prior to the commencement of a multi-day adventure and at any time during the adventure when requested, Participants may be required to provide proof of up to date (minimum two doses, with the final dose administered no later than two weeks prior to commencement) of an Australian Government Approved Covid-19 vaccination.

Women Embrace Adventure will recognise an Australian immunisation history statement or a COVID-19 digital certificate as proof of vaccination. For Participants vaccinated overseas, the vaccination record required will depend on the country of vaccination. Only Australian Government approved vaccinations will be recognised - please refer to the approved list https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines/approved-vaccines .

Failure to provide proof of acceptable COVID-19 vaccination may result in immediate removal from the adventure.

If you are not vaccinated, a COVID-19 vaccination medical exemptions/contraindication form may be required from a qualified medical professional and considered on a case-by-case basis.

Participants holding such a form proving COVID-19 vaccination exemption should notify Women Embrace Adventure prior to booking a multi-day adventure in order to have the exemption assessed. Where Women Embrace Adventure agrees to a Participant holding a medical exemption from COVID-19 vaccination joining a multi-day adventure, that Participant is subject to all other requirements of this COVID-19 policy, including testing.

Participants should carry proof of up to date (minimum two doses)  Australian Government Approved Covid-19 vaccination (or medical exemption) with them at all times as where required on multi-day adventures.

Prior to the commencement of a multi-day adventure, Participants may be required to provide Women Embrace Adventure with a COVID-19 Health Declaration (a link will be forwarded to you with the declaration).

Multi-day adventure Participants should ensure that they bring an adequate personal supply of face masks and hand sanitiser for the duration of the adventure. Participants are required to bring their own personal approved Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test kits.

Should a Participant be affected by COVID-19 including isolation requirements prior to the commencement of a multi-day adventure, Women Embrace Adventure’s normal cancellation fees will apply.

It is a requirement that you purchase a comprehensive travel insurance policy at the time of booking.

During a Multi-Day Adventure

Women Embrace Adventure will carry a stock of approved Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test kits on all multi-day adventures. Upon request, Participants will be required to take an approved Rapid Antigen COVID-19 test kit during multi-day adventures. Failure to do so will result in immediate removal from the adventure.

Should a Participant feel unwell, show COVID-19 symptoms or otherwise return a positive COVID-19 test during a multi-day adventure, government requirements in relation to isolation will be followed by all Participants.  Women Embrace Adventure will liaise with local authorities as required in the circumstances. As a result of following local requirements, Women Embrace Adventure may need to terminate the activities for the day for all Participants or for defined close contacts and/or request the group to immediately self-isolate reducing the risk of the potential spread of the virus.

Where a Participant is removed or asked to leave an adventure, tests positive to COVID-19 or is subject to isolation or other government requirements, all related costs (including the costs of transportation, additional or alternate accommodation etc) will be at the Participant’s own expense.

Women Embrace Adventure seeks to ensure Participant safety with a minimum of 2 guides per adventure. Should a WEA guide feel unwell, show COVID-19 symptoms or otherwise return a positive COVID-19 test during a multi-day adventure, Women Embrace Adventure will make reasonable attempts to secure a replacement guide but may need to amend or terminate the adventure.

The safety and wellbeing of Participants and guides are of paramount importance to Women Embrace Adventure and we will take reasonable and practicable steps to minimise those risks.

Women Embrace Adventure reserve the right to amend an adventure itinerary after the adventure has commenced to deal with unforeseen events or circumstances. For instance, we may vary some of your adventure to include lower-risk activities suitable for a solo guide to deliver until a replacement guide can be sourced.

Insurance

Participants in multi-day adventures must take out travel insurance at their own expense at the time of booking. Acquiring travel insurance is the sole responsibility of the Participant.  Travel insurance provider policies do vary, and we strongly recommend you check with your individual insurer for coverage that suits your individual needs, including in relation to evacuation and COVID-19 cancellation (among other things).
