About The Adventure
About the Adventure: Join us to explore a popular area of Brisbane Water National Park on our Women Embrace Piles Creek Hike! On this challenging 6km interesting hike, we’ll pass waterfalls, jump over rivers, take in the vista of the valley from Illoura lookout, pass through gorgeous eucalypt forests and cross a suspension bridge. We’ll start and finish in large picnic area near the carpark where we’ll enjoy morning tea after our rewarding hike. We hope you can join us.

Meeting Time: 7:15am for a 7:30am start
Meeting Point: Picnic area at the end of Girrakool Road, Somersby. A map of the exact meeting point will be sent to you via text in the week leading up to the event.
Fitness Level: For moderate to high fitness levels
Experience: No bushwalking experience is needed but recommended. You need have a moderate to high fitness level and sturdy shoes with good grip to successfully enjoy your walk.
About the Walk: This walk is rated Grade 5. We’ll walk approx 6kms over uneven ground with many steps and steep in parts. This trail can be slippery when wet, even after light rain. For more about the grading system click on this link
Toilets: There are toilets at the start (and finish) of the walk.
Parking: There is a car park at the beginning of the walk. National Park entrance fees apply – if you don’t have a National Parks annual pass, you can purchase a day pass at the machines in the car park for $8

- Wilderness first Aid qualified leader
- Morning tea including hot drinks and home-baked goodies. (We cater for most dietary requirements, please let us know of any needs when booking)

What do I need to bring/wear?
- small day pack with waist strap (to carry your personal belongings)
- hiking boots, sturdy joggers or trail runners
- comfortable, sun-protective activewear
- hat
- sunscreen
- bug spray
- any personal medications you may need (asthma puffer/epi-pen etc)
- waterproof jacket (in case of cold/ wet weather)
- an extra warm layer in case of cold/windy weather
- at least 2 litres of water (remember we will be walking for a couple of hours and there are no water fill-up points along the way)
- we recommend leaving an extra set of clothes in the car in case we run into cold or wet weather
- hiking poles (optional)
FAQS
How fit do I need to be to join this adventure? This hike covers approx 6km of moderate to hard levels of terrain. You'll need a moderate to high level of fitness to join us on this walk. If you're not sure if you are fit enough for the walk please contact us at info@womenembraceadventure.com.au and we will be happy to give you a call to discuss. This trail is not handicapped accessible at this time and pets are not allowed.
I'll be coming on my own, is that ok?
Not a problem at all! Lots of women come on their own to our adventures. Your Women Embrace Adventure host will make sure everyone is introduced before we set off on this beautiful hike. We always have lots of fun, there is no pressure, no judgment, and lots of encouragement from everyone. By the end of the hike, you may have just found some new adventure friends!
How many will be on our Hike? We keep our adventures quite personal. On this adventure, there will be no more than 14 women plus your WEA guides.

Your booking is final once your payment is processed and a confirmation email is sent to you.
No refunds will be given but your spot can be transferred to another lady over the age of 18. Please email us at least 24 hours before the adventure and provide her contact details. This is an all-weather event. If cancelled by Women Embrace Adventure a credit or full refund will be provided.
This is a women's only adventure. Valid for sale until sold out. Advertised prices are per person. Prices are correct as of 21 April 2022 and are subject to availability, withdrawal and change at any time without notice due to fluctuations in charges and currency.
All current government safety and health guidelines at the time of booking and departure must be adhered to including all Covid-19 requirements. Any additional costs related to but not limited to government travel restrictions are the responsibility of the individual traveller and not Women Embrace Adventure. If this trip is undersubscribed or in circumstances where external events affect the viability or safety of this trip to go ahead, Women Embrace Adventure reserves the right to cancel or reschedule and to exclude/remove any participants from this trip.
