About The Adventure

Katrina and Sharon would love you to join us for our Women Embrace Adventure, Womens Health Week Fundraising Adventure and give back to our charity partner 'Jennys Place' by helping us raise money to help fill our WEA Life Baskets.

At WEA we know good health is powerful! So this September, Women’s Health Week will be a great reminder to set aside time for your health and wellbeing. Womens Health Week will act as a reminder to make an appointment for a health check, get active, and connect with family and friends. Good health starts with you.  Each day of Women's Health Week (September 6-12), we will focus on an important women's health topic on our social media platforms to help improve women's health and helping you to make healthier choices.

To finish off the week we are holing this fun Fundraising even to celebrate Women and to raise money for a fantastic cause.

To start our adventure our 8km walk takes us from the Throsby Carpark on Honeysuckle Drive, along Newcastle Harbour Waterfront, past Nobby's Beach and out to amazing Nobby's Headland. After a scenic photo or ten we'll make our way back to Honeysuckle and board William The Fourth for our sunset cruise around the harbour. William the Fourth is an accurate operational replica of Australia’s first steam powered ocean-going paddlewheel ship.

Grab a glass of bubbles, some nibbles and sit back and enjoy the serenity, soak up the grand vistas of the Newcastle city panorama from the harbour. During our cruise you will have the please of listening to our guest speaker, the amazing Liz Murray who will speak to us about the importance of connection and nature on our mental health.

A little bit about Jennys Place...

Jenny’s Place was the first refuge established in the Hunter and have been supporting women and children in our area for 43 years. The vision for the organisation started in 1977 by a group of strong and passionate women who believed that women and children experiencing domestic violence deserved to have a safe place where they could receive the support and assistance they required to live a life free from violence and abuse.

Their Domestic Violence Resource Centre is only one of its kind in Newcastle and it has been running for 12 years without proper funding. Jenny’s amazing team have managed to keep the place running all this time on small grants, donations, philanthropic money and the very generous community of Newcastle.

Kat and Sharon, founders of Women Embrace Adventure are pleased to partner with Jenny’s Place in 2020-2021. A portion of all proceeds from their adventures goes towards WEA New Life Baskets for women and children moving from a shelter to independent living.  Paying it forward…one adventure at a time.

We hope you can join us to celebrate Womens Health Week.
